Today is World No Tobacco Day! I used to smoke, but quit nearly 4 years ago. I really don't know why I smoked in the first place. I guess a sort of insanity kept me from listening to my better judgment.
I don't miss smoking in the least. I'll admit I sometimes miss the idea of smoking. I thought it was a useful social tool at the time. The thing is, though, it's not worth risking your health. I also don't miss the way it made me feel - relatively short of breath, the grittyness in my mouth, the frequent bad colds, the smell in my hands... echh...

My New Phone
Yesterday I got a new phone - the Samsung A920. it's pretty sweet, actually. It has a camera, video capability, TV, and is an MP3 player. I don't actually talk on the phone a whole lot, but I do like all the extra features.

Rocky Point Park
Earlier today at Rockey Point Park
Ok, apart from being the aniversary of the Battle of Tsushima, another even more significant event today is this is the 2nd aniversary weekend since Kathryn and I were engaged. We went back to the scene where I gave my intention: Rockey Point Park, in Port Moody. The day we were engaged was actually the first time we went there. We've only been back on the aniversary weekend last year, too.
The Battle of Tsushima
The Russian Fleet at the Battle of Tsushima

Artillery Day
At Wreck Beach
New Hair
A Flower
A Tree
A Tree by the shore.
It's been an exraordinarily long time since I updated this. No particular reason why I stopped, and no particular reason why I'm doing this update, neither. Obviously I'm making no pretense I'll be updating this daily. :)
I was watching the news the other day, and they were interviewing a leading member of the federal Green Party. He was bemoaning the lack of importance the current government places on environmental issues. During the short segment the guy was shown busy making his home more energy efficient to save electricity. meanwhile the dude was retrieving some wiring from his SUV!
My wife and I don't drive. In fact we really don't have intention of getting a car. Besides being a money-pit, I personally think a number of social and environmental ills are caused by cars. This is not to say I'm against using them, it's just that I believe the technology is being dreadfully abused. Really, if you're able-bodied, you don't need to hop in the car to drive 3 blocks to go to the 7-11.
Of course if we didn't live in the city, we probably would be in a position where getting a car would be necessary. I just don't think it necessary right now.
